BREAKING: Jurgen Klopp wants Liverpool to hijack Arsenal’s move for ‘incredible’ £50M talent- Liverpool already contacted player’s entourage secretly- Player not Jurrien Timber

Liverpool are interested in signing Arsenal-linked Southampton midfielder Romeo Lavia this summer, according to reports.

The 19-year-old was one of the few positives for the Saints in a dismal season which saw them relegated to the Championship.

After signing from Manchester City, Lavia made 29 Premier League appearances for Southampton last term. And, his performances caught the attention of some top clubs.

Indeed, as previously reported by TEAMtalk, Manchester United and Chelsea both hold an interest in the youngster. However, Arsenal have been considered the favourites to sign him for some time.

It’s no secret that Mikel Arteta is keen to bolster his midfield this summer. Now, he is one step away from signing his top target Declan Rice. But, he could miss out on his second priority.

Indeed, like Arteta, Klopp is also looking to add more midfielders to his squad despite already signing Alexis Mac Allister earlier in the summer.

The likes of Khephren Thuram and Manu Kone have been heavily linked with a move to Liverpool. But, it seems that the Reds are now strongly considering making a bid for Lavia.

Liverpool swoop for Arsenal-linked Lavia

Now, according to reputed transfer journalist Sacha Tavolieri, Liverpool have already “announced their intention to make an offer” for Lavia this summer.

Speaking to The Redmen TV, he said: “What I can say is Liverpool are going ahead with the profile, they are still interested, and they have kept contact with the entourage of the player.”

“They announced their intention to make an offer this summer. This is something quite concrete and huge.

“As I said in my tweet yesterday there are contacts with Southampton that can really help on the deal.”

It is expected that Lavia will be allowed to leave Southampton this summer, but only for the right price.

Previous reports suggest that the Saint will consider offers in the region of £40m. But, given the level of interest in the Belgian, his ultimate price tag may end up being higher than that.

back clause inserted in Lavia’s contract – also for a fee of £40m. However, it only becomes valid in 2024.

Therefore, Liverpool will no doubt be keen to get a deal done as soon as possible.

With that in mind, it will be interesting to see if the Reds table an offer for Lavia over the next couple of weeks.
