‘What exactly is Arteta cooking?’- Arsenal have again entered the race to sign ‘aggressive’ defender Liverpool have already submitted a £30M bid for- Arsenal plans to hijack the player on his way to Liverpool- Arsenal to pay £40M

Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool are now reportedly facing competition from Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal for Perr Schuurs.

Earlier this week, it emerged that Liverpool have had an offer for Perr Schuurs turned down, and it is now being reported that Arsenal hold an interest in the Torino central defender as well.

Tuttosport reported this week Liverpool have made a bid of €30 million (£26 million) for the 23-year-old Dutch centre-back.

Torino have turned it down.

The Serie A club are looking for €40 million (£34 million) for Schuurs.

Journalist Dean Jones has told GiveMeSport that Arsenal are also on the hunt for Schuurs.

While noting the players that Arsenal are looking at as potential new signings in the summer transfer window, Jones mentioned Schuurs of Torino.

Should Liverpool worry about Arsenal competition for Perr Schuurs?

In our opinion, Liverpool need not worry about a potential threat from Arsenal for Perr Schuurs.

The Gunners are reportedly on the verge of signing Jurrien Timber from Ajax.Timber can operate as a centre-back or as a right-back.

Yes, Arsenal could still look for another central defender but that they have yet to bid for Schuurs suggests that they are not being too active on that front.

Liverpool already have an offer turned down.

The Merseyside club are clearly more determined than Arsenal to sign the 23-year-old Dutchman, who is rated highly by former Liverpool striker Michael Owen.

Owen was hugely impressed by the defender when he was at Ajax.

Schuurs moved to Torino in the summer of 2022.

“(Schuurs) will be the new Matthijs de Ligt,” Owen told BT Sport (21 October, 10.30pm).

“He is still young, but what a body and what strength. He already reminds me a lot of De Ligt.

“Nice on the ball, aggressive and strong for his age. (Ajax) sold De Ligt for a lot of money but he can take over that role completely.”
