“Massive future”- Arsenal Legend Ian Wright is ‘very disappointed’ that Chelsea are almost finalising a deal to sign £45k-a-week ‘unbelievabe’ player who he really wanted Arsenal to sign

Chelsea are now confident about signing from Crystal Palace – a player who Ian Wright believes will do special things in football.

That is according to 90Min.

So, what has Ian Wright said about Michael Olise previously as Chelsea close in? Let’s take a look…

What’s the story?

Well, if Chelsea do manage to get a deal for the France Under-21 international over the line, then it would come with Wright’s seal of approval.

The 59-year-old has previously heaped praise on Olise, describing him as someone with a “massive future” who is likely to do “unbelievable” things in years to come.

Football London quote Wright as saying live on ITV: “When you watch what Zaha brings to the team, Wilf is what 29 now? Here you are talking about a youngster (Olise) that has a massive future.

“When you look at what he does in the final third. Go and do what you want. He is going to be somebody that is going to do unbelievable things.”

According to 90min, Chelsea believe they have won the race to sign Olise from Crystal Palace.

It is said that the Blues feel their strong relationship with the 21-year-old’s family has given them the edge over Arsenal and Manchester City.

Olise is believed to have a £35m release clause in his contract, meaning the £45,000-a-week man is available for a bargain sum.

Olise to Chelsea could progress quickly

Should Chelsea trigger that £35m release clause in the coming days, we would expect this deal to progress rapidly.

According to Ben Jacobs of CBS Sports, Olise is already close to agreeing personal terms with Chelsea, so as the price is already fixed at £35m, only a medical would then stop the Londoner from becoming a Blue.

Be sure to keep an eye on this situation, as Chelsea seemingly close in on the Crystal Palace No.7’s signature.
