Barcelona boss Xavi sends Arsenal Ansu Fati transfer boost as ‘medical booked’
All the latest transfer news and rumours surrounding Arsenal as the Gunners prepare for their Premier League opener.
Arsenal are now just days away from the start of their Premier League campaign.
The Gunners will be expecting to compete for the title from the off this season after coming so close last time around, while they have since splashed out more than £200million on new signings.
Mikel Arteta has been well backed during this window, but expectations will only rise with such investment.
In the meantime, work continues at the Emirates Stadium as Arteta looks to put the finishing touches on his squad ahead of the end of the window, and with that in mind, we have rounded up all the latest news and transfer rumours surrounding the Emirates Stadium.
Fati boost
Arsenal have been linked with a move for Barcelona star Ansu Fati this summer, and there is fresh hope.
Barcelona are said to view Fati as untransferable, as they say in Spain, but ultimately, it may not be down to them as they continue to navigate their way through Financial Fair Play issues.
That’s something Barca boss Xavi Hernandez has admitted himself, saying: “Until the 31st of August a lot of things can happen. It will depend a lot on Financial Fair Play for us.”
There could yet be a deal to be done late in the window.
Raya medical
Arsenal are already said to have organised a medical for proposed new signing David Raya.
According to reports, the Gunners have agreed a deal worth around £30million for the Brentford stopper, although the upfront fee could wind up being a touch less. Either way, it seems a deal will go through, and Fabrizio Romano has reported that Raya’s medical will take place on ‘either Wednesday or Thursday’.
Raya should be all signed up for the start of the season, though he will need to receive clearance to be registered on time.
