‘HE DOES THIS SO OFTEN’: BBC PUNDIT SLAMS £24M ARSENAL PLAYER VS FULHAM

Martin Keown has criticised Arsenal goalkeeper Aaron Ramsdale for the goal that he conceded against Fulham in the first half at the Emirates Stadium in North London in the Premier League match on Saturday afternoon.

The former Arsenal star has said on BBC Sport that Aaron Ramsdale should not have come off his line and was at fault for the goal that he conceded against Fulham in the first half of the London derby.

Ramsdale conceded in the very first minute.

Bukayo Saka made a bad mistake with a weak pass, and Andreas Pereira pounced on it.

Criticism for Arsenal goalkeeper Aaron Ramsdale vs Fulham

Pereira’s attempt at a chip was not particularly great, but it was enough to beat the England international goalkeeper in the Arsenal goal.

And BBC Sport pundit Keown was not impressed with the £24 million (The Athletic) player.

Keown said: “This was something we saw often at the end of last season when Arsenal didn’t take advantage of their lead in the title race.

“Ramsdale is so far off his line, he does this so often and I’m not sure why, and Pereira shoots into the near post.”

It was indeed poor positioning from Ramsdale, but you also need to point the finger at Saka for the goal.

Ramsdale is a very good goalkeeper, but the Englishman does make mistakes from time to time.

The one positive for Arsenal is that manager Mikel Arteta has David Raya at his disposal now.

Raya is a very good goalkeeper.

The Spain international is brilliant with his feet, makes good saves, and commands his area well.

If Ramsdale does make a few more mistakes in the upcoming matches, then Arteta could well decide to bring Raya into the starting lineup.
