Arsenal could reportedly allow Emile Smith Rowe to leave the club before Transfer Deadline Day as the youngster has fallen away from the first team.

Smith Rowe was one of the Gunners’ most promising talents, but he hasn’t featured in any three of Arsenal’s Premier League fixtures this season.

And Mikel Arteta only granted the Englishman three minutes as the Gunners beat Manchester City on penalties in the Community Shield at Wembley earlier this month.

Arsenal, according to The Times, are now open to the idea of selling Smith Rowe. And Chelsea have reportedly already registered interest in bringing the midfielder to Stamford Bridge.

Back in 2021, when Smith Rowe was first breaking into the Gunners’ side, he earned comparisons to Mesut Ozil – who left north London the same year.

As Gunners fans waved goodbye to Ozil, that same evening Smith Rowe led Arsenal to a win over Newcastle. His performance prompted Gary Neville to claim he “could play in the old Arsenal teams”.

And Ozil clearly left a big impact on Smith Rowe’s career.

Smith Rowe named the former Germany star as the best player he has ever played alongside at the start of last season: “Everyone knows how good he (Ozil) is, so I’d have to say him.”

However, when asked about the best atmosphere in the Premier League, Smith Rowe quipped: “It was at Anfield. The fans were crazy there. That’s probably the biggest atmosphere I’ve ever experienced.”
