‘HE NEEDS TO’: THIERRY HENRY EXPRESSES ONE WORRY FOR ARSENAL STAR BUKAYO SAKA

Thierry Henry says Bukayo Saka ‘has it all’ in his locker, but he is worried that he ‘plays too many games’ for Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal.

The 22-year-old recently broke Arsenal’s Premier League record and that’s playing in 83 consecutive games, previously held by Paul Merson – the left-footed speedster is currently on 85.

That probably highlights, added to the fact that he is now playing Champions League football, that he does need to be ‘rotated’ or ‘miss some games’, which is what Thierry Henry wants, as he told CBS Sports on Paramount+ (20/09/23 at 7:50 pm).

One thing is for sure, this Sunday, Bukayo Saka will be named in the starting XI because it’s the small matter of the north London derby against Tottenham at the Emirates.

Even if the Hale-End star was on one leg, he wouldn’t miss such a fixture, with both teams going into the weekend showdown flying high and unbeaten in the Premier League – Harry Kane has made his prediction.

Either way, Bukayo Saka must be used to getting the plaudits over the years, but nothing will come better than the praise from Arsenal’s greatest-ever player of the Premier League era.

“If you want to play late and put pressure on a team, then he can go as a wing-back,” said Henry. “As we know, he can play high on the right or left. Behind the striker. Assist. Tackle. Pressure. Name it all. He has it all. 

“He will run the whole game – this is what he has now, an eye for a goal. This man can do it all. 

“One thing you can say about him is that maybe he plays too many games and, somehow, he needs to. I will use the word ‘rotation’, miss some games.

“But I mean, this guy, is just outstanding.”

Will Arteta rotate Saka?

Not only does Saka always start, but he doesn’t get subbed as much, and when he does, it’s usually late in the game.

He’s injured right now, but Gabriel Martinelli, out of the two, is the one who is consistently subbed by Arteta.

Perhaps taking Saka off a little bit earlier during games might help because, whilst his workload has been heavy in recent years, it’s now just taken on its biggest load yet in the name of the Champions League.
