“Be serious about this player and sign him up before Chelsea submit their transfer bid for him”- Arsenal legend Patrick Vierra has hinted at Mikel Arteta and Arsenal board to hijack the signing of “technically gifted” player who is already on his way to joining Chelsea
“Be serious about this player and sign him up before Chelsea submit their transfer bid for him”- Arsenal legend Patrick Vierra has hinted at Mikel Arteta and Arsenal board to hijack the signing of “technically gifted” player who is already on his way to joining Chelsea
Vierra has suggested Arsenal and Tottenham should fight it out in the New Year to sign Brentford’s Ivan Toney.
This comes at a time when Chelsea are rumoured to be interested in signing the Brentford striker.
Ivan Toney may not have played any football so far this season while he serves a ban for breaking betting regulations, but he’s still a very popular topic for discussion in the media.
The 27-year-old will be able to return to the pitch in January, but will he still be wearing Brentford colours by the end of the next transfer window?
There’s been a suggestion from talkSPORT pundit Gabby Agbonlahor that Arsenal and Spurs should help a Premier League title bid by trying to sign Toney in January.
When discussing if Arsenal should try and sign Toney, Agbonlahor told talkSPORT: “Whoever is serious about the title in January, go get him.
“But, do Spurs go and get Toney? If Spurs come to January and they’re in a title race…
“I think whoever’s serious about this title challenge, go and get Toney.”
TEAMtalk claimed this week that Chelsea, Arsenal and Spurs will look to battle it out for Toney’s signature. Brentford could try to drive his transfer fee up to £70million, though.
Also, TEAMtalk said earlier this month that Chelsea boss Mauricio Pochettino has identified Brentford’s centre-forward as a player he wants to work with at Stamford Bridge.
His return of 20 goals in 33 Premier League games for Brentford last season only tells half the story of how good he can be.
In our view, Toney is ready to make that leap to one of England’s biggest clubs and lead the line.
He’s a complete frontman when you look at all his attributes, so it makes sense that the biggest teams are checking on him.
