Arsenal news: The Gunners ace helped England qualify for the Germany Euro 2024 after they defeated Italy and one player has been highlighted for his display
Arsenal star Declan Rice has praised England teammate Jude Bellingham after his sensational performance in the Three Lions’ European Championship qualifier win against Italy on Tuesday.
Gareth Southgate’s secured their spot in the summer’s tournament with two games remaining after a 3-1 victory over the Euros holders. A Harry Kane brace and Marcus Rashford strike saw England come from behind to become the ninth team to secure their spot for Germany.
Rice partnered Manchester City’s Kalvin Phillips in Southgate’s midfield pivot with Bellingham playing further forward. The 20-year-old has become a sensation over the last few months with his performances for Real Madrid.
Since completing his £88.5million move from Borussia Dortmund, the attacking midfielder has scored ten goals in as many games for Carlo Ancelotti’s side. His displays have earned him plenty of praise, with some even labelling him as the best midfielder in European football currently.
Bellingham translated his club form to England on Tuesday night with two assists. The midfielder won the penalty, which Harry Kane converted in the 32nd minute, before producing a moment of magic for Rashford’s goal.
After winning the ball in his own half, the former Birmingham City star flicked the ball over an Italian player before surging through midfield. Rashford did the rest with an excellent finish, but it was Bellingham that earned the plaudits.
And following confirmation of the Three Lions’ qualification, players have swept to Bellingham’s recent Instagram post to big-up the midfielder. Seven images were posted on the youngster’s page with the caption, ‘Bis bald, #EURO2024’, – which translates to ‘see you soon’ in English.
Harry Maguire and Rashford were two players to post on Bellingham’s post and Rice was on hand to post a simple message. The Gunners star wrote: “levels”.
