‘Criticised too much’: Pundit says Arsenal have a player who’s treated far too harshly

Eddie Nketiah put in a career-best Premier League performance on Saturday against Sheffield United.

The striker netted a hat-trick against the Blades to secure a dominant win for Arsenal, and, finally, he’s getting the credit he deserves.

Ever since he broke through, Nketiah has had his doubters who said he wasn’t good enough to lead the line for Arsenal, and now, those critics have been silenced – for now at least.

It’s frustrating to see Nketiah critiqued so often and so harshly because he is a young player with bags of potential, and speaking on Premier League Productions, Leroy Rosenior has now jumped to his defence.

The pundit says that Nketiah has had a hard time recently in terms of criticism after big games, claiming that he can be overly-criticised when he doesn’t score in these big matches.

Nketiah over-criticised

Rosenior shared his verdict on the striker.

“Really pleased for him, I think he has a really hard time, He’s a young player and he’s still developing, he’s a natural goalscorer. I just feel he needs a confidence boost because when he goes into the big games and he doesn’t perform, he gets criticised too much for me,” Rosenior said.

Too easy

Nketiah can be criticised too much at times, but sadly, it’s too easy to make any misfiring striker a target.

Dissecting a game and all the intricacies of build-up, shape and movement can be a daunting task, and the easy way out is to point at a striker who hasn’t scored and say they should’ve done more.

A prime example is the Manchester United game earlier this season, Nketiah was brilliant in terms of linking play and creating, but because he didn’t score and Gabriel Jesus, he was criticized after the game and there were calls for change.

Nketiah has been brilliant so far this season in almost every game, despite what some would have you believe.
