Ex-Arsenal star Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang rivals Alejandro Garnacho with stunning overhead kick as he scores hat-trick

Football fans were treated to yet another stunning overhead kick as Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang found the target in acrobatic fashion.

The former Arsenal star now plays his football in France for Marseille, signing in the summer after an underwhelming season at Chelsea.

Europa League action was in store for Aubameyang on Thursday night as his side eye a spot in the last 16.

Marseille welcomed the visit of Ajax and their main man up front was on hand to score not once, not twice, but three times.

His first of the match came from a penalty in the ninth minute, only for Brian Brobbey to equalise just moments later.

Chancel Mbemba restored Marseille’s lead before Brobbey levelled the scoring yet again on the half hour mark.

Aubameyang scored the best goal of the night in the opening stages of the second half, an overheard kick from inside the area just four days after Alejandro Garnacho did thesame for Manchester United.

Arsenal fans will be fully aware of such capabilities as he scored a similar goal in the Europa League against Olympiakos in 2020.

Chuba Akpom netted a late third for Ajax but they ultimately leave France with no points as Aubameyang provided to the drama.

In the third minute of stoppage-time, he scored another penalty to complete his hat-trick and send Marseille top of Group.

Only they and Brighton can potentially progress to the last 16 of the Europa League, with the two sides clashing in two weeks time.

Aubameyang has now scored eight goals in 18 appearances for Marseille this season, with five of those coming on the continent.

The result means Brighton need to beat Marseille at the Amex Stadium on December 14 to finish top of the group with the French side a point ahead of them.
