‘World class’ £80m player would rather sign for Arsenal than Real Madrid in January now
Arsenal have received a massive boost ahead of the January transfer window, with Ivan Toney keen to prioritise a move to the Emirates over any of his other admirers – which now includes Real Madrid.
Ivan Toney is closing in on being able to return after serving a ban over the last few months. Despite his absence, his stock appears to still be incredibly high within the game.
TEAMtalk reports that Arsenal have made Toney one of their top targets for the January transfer window. Meanwhile, the likes of Chelsea and Real Madrid are also monitoring the 27-year-old.
Ivan Toney would rather join Arsenal over Real Madrid
But it seems that Toney is prepared to snub Los Blancos and Mauricio Pochettino’s side. TEAMtalk reports that the forward’s priority would be to join Arsenal next month.
Asking price could still be a problem for Mikel Arteta
Of course, that is not the only hurdle the Gunners will have to clear if they hope to sign the Brentford striker when the window opens.
The Bees apparently want £80 million for Toney.
Even if they are willing to compromise on that, Thomas Frank’s side are surely still going to demand a hefty sum.
And when you consider that Arsenal agreed a loan deal to be able to bring in David Raya in the summer, it would not be a huge surprise if Edu did not have huge amounts to spend in January.
Perhaps they were making sure that they had the funds to sign the striker they wanted when the time was right. But it does seem that the Gunners have spent a decent amount of money over the last few years.
Clearly, Toney would have the potential to be an outstanding signing for Arsenal. He is a ‘world-class‘ striker who has been superb in the Premier League.
And the good news is that he seems to be just as keen to end up at the Emirates.
