“Despite Zinchenko’s error, this guy was still impressive. He deserves to be winning”- Liverpool Legend Jamie Carragher says £27M Arsenal star is doing something really impressive against Mohamed Salah’s Liverpool
‘Brilliant’…Jamie Carragher seriously impressed with £27m Arsenal player v Arsenal
Arsenal are taking on Liverpool this evening and it’s been an absolutely frantic first half at Anfield.
The Gunners took an early lead through defender Gabriel as they came flying out of the blocks. However, Liverpool have also been well in the game and it’s led to quite the encounter for the first 45 minutes.
Both teams are right at it both defensively and in attacking terms and it would be a huge surprise if there are no more goals in the second half.
For Arsenal, it’s now going to be about keeping things tight at the back and after his goal scoring heroics, £27m signing Gabriel has done the business at the back as well.
Indeed, there was one big moment in just the 11th minute where Gabriel showed his class at the back and it was picked up on by Jamie Carragher. The Arsenal defender was camped in his box as the Reds bombarded it with crosses, but Gabriel held firm, impressing Carragher with some big defensive headers.
“It’s brilliant from Gabriel there I think it was. Two big headers,” Carragher said.
Carragher went on to mention Gabriel and his partner, William Saliba, on more occasions in the first half as well. The Arsenal duo were made to defend more than once and did so, in the main, in fine fashion.
Gabriel will have more defending to do against Liverpool
The goal from Mo Salah changed the entire complex of the game and there was little Gabriel could do about that one.
However, you do feel he’s going to need to be at it in the second half as well. Liverpool are really coming on strong in this game and there’s going to be even more chances you feel.
Gabriel and Saliba are superb in what they do and the action pointed out by Carragher sums up how big they can be for the Gunners.
But a big second half is needed, and Gabriel will need to stay just as strong.
