Mikel Arteta could start ‘extraordinary’ Arsenal talent for just the third time this year vs West Ham
Arsenal take on West Ham United on Thursday, and Mikel Arteta could hand Emile Smith Rowe a rare start.
The Gunners retained their place at the top of the Premier League table after the draw against Liverpool last weekend. They will want to return to winning ways this week, and Smith Rowe could help them pick up all three points against the Hammers.
Emile Smith Rowe could start for Arsenal vs West Ham
Arsenal had a lot of positives to take from the game against Liverpool last weekend, but the one negative was that Kai Havertz picked up his fifth yellow card of the season.
The German is now suspended for the game against West Ham United on Thursday, and Mikel Arteta has a decision to make over who will start in his place.
Leandro Trossard is a candidate in that position having played there before, while Jorginho could also step in and push Declan Rice further forward.
However, we think Emile Smith Rowe deserves to start, and following his comeback from injury, there is a good chance he gets the nod.
The Englishman, branded as an ‘extraordinary‘ player by Arteta, has had a torrid time due to fitness issues. He has only started two games in the whole of 2023, which is a big shame.
The game against West Ham gives Arteta the perfect opportunity to hand Smith Rowe his third start of the year, and we really think he can make a big difference if he gets an opportunity.
Emile Smith Rowe can still become a star for Arsenal
When Emile Smith Rowe broke into Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal side almost exactly three years ago, he instantly became a fan favourite at the Emirates.
The midfielder, along with Bukayo Saka, carried the Gunners during what was a really difficult period, and everybody got an opportunity to see how good a player he is.
Saka has gone on to establish himself as one of the best young players in the world, but injuries have pushed Smith Rowe to the side over the last 18 months.
However, the 23-year-old is still an incredible talent. He can score goals, create chances and play in a number of different positions. If he gets consistent game time in the coming months, we are certain he will become a star again for Arsenal.
