Oleksandr Zinchenko has described Manchester City midfielder Kevin De Bruyne as a masterclass footballer. 

The Ukrainian spent six years at City before joining Arsenal during the 2022 summer transfer window in a deal worth £32M.

Having won numerous titles with Pep Guardiola’s side and featured alongside a significant number of players, the 27-year-old has now shared his thoughts on one of his former City teammates in particular.

Zinchenko drops one-word compliment for De Bruyne

In a recent one-word challenge video published on The Athletic’s Tik Tok channel, Zinchenko said “masterclass” when asked to describe De Bruyne.

During their time together at City, the duo featured in 82 games and racked up one joint-goal participation.

Having signed De Bruyne back in 2015 in a deal worth £55m from Wolfsburg, the Citizens have seen the Belgian score 97 goals and provide 155 assists in 360 appearances prior to tonight’s FA Cup clash against Tottenham Hotspur.

With 103 Premier League assists under his belt, De Bruyne currently has the joint-third-highest total of assists in the top-flight era alongside Wayne Rooney, placing him behind Cesc Fabregas (111) and Ryan Giggs (162).

Earlier this month, the midfielder proved how capable he is of delivering masterclass performances as he came off the bench to score and provide the assist for City’s winning goal in their 3-2 victory against Newcastle United.

Taking into account how impressive the 32-year-old has been throughout his time at the Manchester club in terms of the goals and assists he’s delivered for them, it comes as no surprise that Zinchenko thinks so highly of him.

Looking ahead to the remainder of this season, most of which the midfielder has missed through injury so far, if he can avoid any more injury issues and can keep providing goal contributions on a consistent basis, he’ll give his side a great chance of winning more silverware.
