Arsenal’s Charles Sagoe Jr is in talks with Sunderland over a proposed loan deal before the transfer window closes next week, reports FootballTransfers.

The Gunners’ promising full-back has attracted attention from several clubs, but as we have learned, it is the Black Cats who are pushing for this signing.

Sagoe Jr, who is the only player from the academy to have already stepped into Arsenal’s first team squad this season, showed his skills against Brentford in the League Cup in the north London club’s 1-0 win over the Bees in September.

Sunderland were linked with the transfer of Manchester United winger Amad Diallo, who had a good season in the Championship last term, but now they have reportedly opted for the Gunners wonderkid.

Omar Rekik is also said to be on the move, along with possible loan signing Sagoe. The defender recently returned from a loan spell at Wigan and is currently training with Arsenal’s first team. We understand that the central defender could go on another temporary loan during this window to gain valuable playing experience.

Sagoe Jr. was born in Kingston-Upon-Thames in 2004 and joined Arsenal from Fulham. The teenager scored six goals in 26 appearances for the U21 national team.

In March last year, he was on Arsenal’s bench for the Europa League match against Sporting CP, but he did not enter the pitch that day.

The 19-year-old has been compared to Arsenal star Bukaya Sako, who is also a right winger and a product of the Hale Enda academy.
