DWIGHT YORKE SAYS ARSENAL DON’T PASS THE BALL TO £45M STAR ENOUGH

For months and months, there have been cries from Arsenal fans and the media for Mikel Arteta to bring in a striker if he wants to win the Premier League title.

Some felt Arsenal would have been champions of England if they had that ruthless number nine up top last season, as those noises haven’t stopped for this campaign.

Gabriel Jesus is the main man up top for Arsenal and you would imagine it puts extra pressure on his shoulders when people are talking in such a way.

But Chelsea Legend Didier Drogba has lauded the Brazil star by stating ‘I am a Jesus fan’, but wants his teammates to pass him the ball a lot more and in the right areas, as he told Premier League Productions.

Ever since Gabriel Jesus secured a £45 million transfer from Manchester City to the Emirates Stadium, he has scored 19 goals in 56 matches in all competitions.

Many will argue that he needs to be hitting those numbers in a single season alone, never mind across all competitions and over an 18-month period.

Either way, Arsenal are still pushing for the Premier League title, and if they fail in their quest, then that striker debate will rear its ugly head again.

Gabriel Jesus at Arsenal

“I am a Jesus fan,” said Drogba. “I think he is such a good player. I just don’t think they give him the ball enough and in the right areas.

“He does all his good work away from the danger area. I think they have to work hard to get the ball to him.”

Arsenal’s defence

Yes, it would be great if Arsenal could sign a player like Ivan Toney to help them out on the goalscoring front, but at the end of the day, it’s their defence that will win them the title.

The London club have the join-best defence in the Premier League this season, conceding only 22 goals from 23 matches, alongside Liverpool.

If they can maintain that from now until the end of the season, then there is a serious chance that the title will be headed to the Emirates.

Arsenal have enough goals in their squad from Gabriel Martinelli, Gabriel Jesus, Bukayo Saka, Leandro Trossard and Martin Odegaard to win games.

Do they have the defence to stay firm? Last season, it proved to be one of their biggest stumbling blocks.
