Newcastle United will make another attempt to sign £35m Arsenal loanee Aaron Ramsdale in the summer transfer window, according to reports.

Eddie Howe’s side tried to bring in Ramsdale in January following Nick Pope’s injury but despite the goalkeeper being keen on a move, he remained in north London.

Ramsdale knows Howe well from their time together at AFC Bournemouth and is desperate for more regular game time after losing his place to David Raya.

The Magpies are looking for a new goalkeeper after Martin Dubravka failed to impress since joining the XI and conceded three goals last season.

The Daily Mail has reported that Ramsdale looks set to leave Arsenal this summer and that the England international is currently evaluating his options.

Newcastle, meanwhile, like the look of Ramsdale due to the fact that he is only 25 years old – with their current goalkeepers Dubravka and Pope aged 35 and 32.

Arsenal are already looking for replacements for Ramsdale, with the Gunners scouting Las Palmas star Alvaro Valles and Columbus Crew’s Patrick Schulte.

Former Arsenal player Joe Wilock believes Ramsdale is “too good to be a No.2” and admits he may have to leave the Emirates to get his career back on track.

“You have to remember what Aaron has done for Arsenal,” Seaman said. “He has the support of the fans, everyone knows what he has done for Arsenal.

“I don’t want him to go. But for me he is too good to be No 2. He is still young, he is only 24, and he has a lot of time to play more games and then keep fighting for his place in England.
