‘BIG’: KEVIN DE BRUYNE IMPRESSED BY THREE ARSENAL SIGNINGS AFTER COMMUNITY SHIELD WIN

“They made us lose the trophy to Arsenal”- Kevin De Bruyne gave a bitter post-match interview and confessed he was highly impressed by what THREE Arsenal player’s performance in the Community Shield

The Manchester City midfielder pointed out that Mikel Arteta started all three of his new boys against his side in the start of the season when they faced off in the community shield and that proved how important they already are to the Arsenal team, as he told his post-match interview.

Declan Rice started in the middle of the park and arrived as a club-record transfer, he was subbed off, whilst Jurrien Timber was played at left-back and Kai Havertz filled in for Gabriel Jesus up top.

It could be argued that it was the less-talked-about Dutch star that impressed the most because he was outstanding.

Rice got most of the spotlight this summer because of the fee Arsenal paid for his signature, whilst Havertz’s arrival from London rivals Chelsea raised a lot of eyebrows.

In the meanwhile, Timber went under the radar, and surprise, surprise, he was one of the best players on the pitch at Wembley before eventually going on injury that ruled him out for almost the whole of the season, with Kevin De Bruyne sharing his thoughts on the club’s new captures in a recent interview

“I think they are good players and they’ve helped Arsenal mount a very serious battle for the Premier League title against us,” said de Bruyne about the Rice, Havertz and Timber deals. “They look at what they need and they have bought them.

“I think all three of them can start for any club in the premier league, so that means they are big signings for them. Everybody is looking at their own team and every team has so much money, so everybody is always spending in this league and we know that. It gets tougher every year. One way or another, we try to maintain where we are.”

Declan Rice stands above the rest

This is a signing that was worth all the hypes. Given what Rice can do, in regards to stepping into midfield and even joining the attack, he is going to be very important for the next decade for Arsenal.

Not only that, his defensive duties were near-on faultless. He was hard to beat, he read the danger and dealt with any of their opponents threat.

It won’t be too long before some will be calling for him to partner William Saliba at the heart of Arsenal’s defence when injuries set it at any point in time.
