Arsenal Sporting Director Edu Gaspar reveals Arsenal summer transfer window plans as he look set to grab TWO players for Mikel Arteta in coming weeks
Arsenal sporting director, and club legend, Edu Gaspar, has spoken about the club’s plans for the upcoming summer transfer window, as the Gunners look to bridge the gap to Manchester City.
The Brazilian has previously come under fire from fans for perceived poor sales and, at times, poor signings, though he has received much more praise in the last couple of years, owing to an upturn in transfer activity
Speaking in an exclusive interview with Brazilian outlet Estadão, Edu has spoke in some detail about the Gunners’ plans and preparation for the upcoming summer transfer window
In the interview, Edu said: “Here you can’t sign for the sake of signing. It is a process that takes several weeks. On my desk, I have a report of over 180 pages on one player. The physical, technical, mental profile, whether he has Premier League experience and whether he will be able to adapt.”
The 46-year-old continued: “We’ve been discussing what I’m going to do since January. We analyse our deficiencies, where we can improve, where we can invest and then we go in search of that name. It’s not my decision or Mikel’s [Arteta]. It’s a group decision.”
At the 2023 Golden Boy awards, Edu won the prestigious ‘Best European Director’ award, which saw him beat out his counterparts from Europe’s biggest clubs.
It looks set to be an exciting and busy transfer window for the Gunners, with plenty of ins and outs expected at the club in the coming months, and Edu will have a pivotal role to play in this process – and fans will be hoping that he delivers again
