“He’s every manager’s dream player. Leeds United should sign him and he will take them two steps forward”- Ex Chelsea Boss Mauricio Pochettino have reportedly told Leeds United to sign star player who is a dream for every manager

Leeds United are reportedly interested in signing a player Mauricio Pochettino thinks is the type every manager needs in their squad.

Though the transfer window does not officially open until June 14, clubs will undoubtedly be doing plenty of work behind-the-scenes so they are well prepared.

Leeds are certainly a side who will be keen to hit the ground running this summer, as they know all too well what a slow start to a window can mean for the beginning of a season.

Having been relegated last year, Leeds did not make their first signing until the third week of July and ultimately it proved costly, as they won just one of their opening five matches.

Although key players will have to be sold after Leeds’ failure to win promotion, Paraag Marathe has confirmed funds will be available to re-invest, and they will be looking to do that quickly.

What Pochettino has said about Leeds target Alfie Gilchrist
Clearly Leeds are looking to be ambitious in how they rebuild the squad this summer, and the lucrative sponsorship deal of Red Bull is only going to help that.

However, free agents and loans are certainly markets they shouldn’t disregard, and in the form of the latter, Leeds will be looking to improve on that front.

Of the four Premier League players they signed on loan last season, only Joe Rodon can be considered a real success, with none of Djed Spence, Jaidon Anthony and Connor Roberts having much of an impact.

And Leeds have already been linked with their first Premier League loanee of the summer, with Chelsea’s Alfie Gilchrist said to be someone they are interested in.

In what was a breakthrough season, Gilchrist made 15 appearances in all competitions for Chelsea this season, one of which came from the start against Leeds in the FA Cup.

He also even managed to find the back of the net for the first time at senior level in April during a 6-0 win over Everton, a goal which prompted his former boss Mauricio Pochettino to label him as the type of player every team needs in their squad.

Speaking to Chelsea.com, he said: “He’s an amazing guy in the way that he works, he is always available. He’s the type of player you want in the squad.”

What Cole Palmer has said about Gilchrist amid Leeds links
Pochettino was not the only person at Chelsea to praise Gilchrist for his work rate, with their star man Cole Palmer having done so, too.

Palmer was also speaking after Chelsea’s victory against the Toffees, in which he labelled the 20-year-old as someone who always works so hard every day. He sounds like a player fans would love.

He said: “Everyone was buzzing for him. Obviously, he has been at Chelsea for his whole life. He has trained with us and put 100 per cent in every day
