Arsenal picked up a convincing 2-0 win against Wolves in their Premier League opener.
The Gunners were dominant for large parts of the game against Gary O’Neil’s side and should’ve scored many more goals than they did.
However. the most important thing was the three points, and Arsenal got that thanks to goals from Kai Havertz and Bukayo Saka.
Why Declan Rice was furious with Gabriel Martinelli during Arsenal vs Wolves
Declan Rice and Gabriel Martinelli both started for Arsenal against Wolves on Saturday afternoon.
The Englishman was given a more advanced role with Thomas Partey starting as a number six. That allowed Rice to get into the box often and he did just that.
On one occasion in the final few minutes of the first half, Rice found himself in a truly brilliant position where he could’ve scored.
Martinelli had the ball on the left side of the box, from where he used his tricks and skills to get past a Wolves defender.
It was a tight angle for the £180,000-a-week (Spotrac) Brazilian to score from – a pass to the edge of the box where Rice was free and waiting seemed like the best option.
However, Martinelli went for goal himself, and his shot deflected behind for a corner.
Rice was absolutely furious with that decision and he was spotted smacking his hands on the ground in frustration.
Thankfully for Arsenal fans, that didn’t cost them and they came away with a comfortable win in the end.

Declan Rice’s stats vs Wolves will blow you away
Rice didn’t get a full pre-season at Arsenal this summer because of his involvement in the European Championships with England.
The midfielder arrived late, and although he got minutes in the Emirates Cup, you can tell that he isn’t at his peak fitness level. That was evident late in the game as he cramped up and had to be substituted.
Despite that, Rice produced a fantastic performance.
In 85 minutes on the pitch, the former West Ham man registered 100 per cent passing accuracy and lost just two duels. He also made two interceptions and a clearance, and he wasn’t dribbled past once in the entire game (SofaScore).
A solid first game of the season for Rice, and it’s a great platform for him to build on as Arsenal aim to go all the way in the title race.
