Aaron Ramsdale reveals he doesn’t want to be sitting on the bench for another season and wants to leave Arsenal.

Aaron Ramsdale is expected to leave Arsenal in the final week of the summer transfer window. There might only be five days left, however Arsenal still have a lot of work to do with both incomings and outgoings in the short time that remains.

Arsenal’s first business of the summer was to make David Raya’s loan move a permanent one ahead of the 2024/25 campaign. This has led to Aaron Ramsdale being on the lookout for a new club all summer, however no move has currently materialised.

The former Arsenal number one spoke to TalkSPORT at the end of last season where he admitted he had no interest in sitting on the Arsenal bench for another season.

Aaron Ramsdale: “No footballer wants to not play, I had a difficult year personally not playing and I don’t want to do that again. It was difficult, it was very difficult.

Nothing has changed at the start of the 2024/25 campaign with David Raya being Mikel Arteta’s clear number one in the first two games of the Premier League season.

The Arsenal manager has also been proven right with his decision as Raya has produced two world class saves in the opening two matches, against Wolves and Aston Villa.

Ajax, Wolves and Southampton have all shown interest in Aaron Ramsdale. However with five days left to go in the transfer window, no deal is close for the England International to leave the Gunners.

The most likely destination for Ramsdale as it stands is Wolves. Gary O’Neill has the 26-year-old lined up to replace Jose Sa with the Portuguese international rumoured to have an offer from Saudi Arabia.

Aaron Ramsdale’s camp will be working hard to find the goalkeeper a move away ahead of Friday’s deadline.

The Gunners number one target to replace the England international is Spanish keeper Joan Garcia. The club have already held talks with the 23-year-old to become the new number two when Ramsdale eventually gets his exit.
