Arsenal could land ‘deadly’ forward for £38m as late summer signing

Arsenal could make a dramatic late signing ahead of Friday’s deadline after setting their sights on a new winger target.

The Gunners have already added three new additions to Mikel Arteta’s squad but a new forward is still on their shopping list

Arsenal announced the arrival of Mikel Merino this week after agreeing a £27million deal with Real Sociedad – he joins Riccardo Calafiori and David Raya as new arrivals at The Emirates this summer.

But the Gunners have always had their eyes on bringing in a new forward this summer and Arsenal have been linked with Nico Williams throughout the window.

However, Fabrizio Romano issued an update that Arsenal will not sign Williams this summer as he plans to stay in Spain for one more season.

The North London outfit have now set their sights on a new target.

But Arteta is eager to add more depth and CaughtOffside report that Arsenal have been monitoring Lyon’s Ghanaian “deadly” winger, Ernest Nuamah.

Despite Lyon wanting to keep hold of the 20-year-old, the report states that the Ligue 1 side could consider offers in the region of €45m (£38m).

However, Arsenal face fierce competition from London rivals Fulham, who are said to have a stronger interest in Nuamah at this point.

Arsenal could end the summer with a bang
Arsenal’s transfer business has already been impressive this summer – not only have they addressed their defence and midfield, but their sales have been outstanding.

Emile Smith Rowe has joined Fulham for £34m and two more sales are on the way in the shape of Eddie Nketiah and Aaron Ramsdale.

A new forward is the only thing remaining on their shopping list and in Nuamah they would get a prospect who has an extremely high ceiling. A back-up role behind Saka could suit him to a tee
