Shock inclusion as Arsenal announce their 2024/25 Champions League squad
Mikel Arteta has surprisingly included an Arsenal star who had been forgotten by the club in this year’s Champions League squad

Arsenal are preparing for their return to the UEFA Champions League this season, with the competition set to undergo significant changes. After the September international break, the tournament will kick off in its new format, as teams embark on a challenging journey through the league phase.

Mikel Arteta is tasked with guiding his team to a top-eight finish in this new structure, which would secure Arsenal an automatic spot in the round of 16. The Gunners have received their fixture list, and it’s filled with formidable opponents, including PSG, Inter Milan, Sporting CP, and Girona.

These clashes are just part of the demanding schedule that Arsenal will face, starting with a tough away match against last season’s Europa League winners, Atalanta.

According to Jeorge Bird and the UEFA official website, Arsenal have announced their senior squad for the Champions League group stages. Among the names is 18-year-old goalkeeper Tommy Setford, who, despite his age, had to be included on the A-List due to joining the club this summer.

Other notable inclusions are Kieran Tierney and new signings Neto, Raheem Sterling, Riccardo Calafiori, and Mikel Merino. Meanwhile, rising stars like Ethan Nwaneri and Myles Lewis-Skelly will be featured on the B-List, which is yet to be released.

Arsenal’s senior Champions League squad:
Goalkeepers: David Raya, Norberto Neto, Tommy Setford
Defenders: William Saliba, Kieran Tierney, Ben White, Gabriel Magalhaes, Jurrien Timber, Jakub Kiwior, Oleksandr Zinchenko, Takehiro Tomiyasu, Riccardo Calafiori
Midfielders: Thomas Partey, Martin Odegaard, Leandro Trossard, Jorginho, Mikel Merino, Kai Havertz, Raheem Sterling, Declan Rice
Forwards: Bukayo Saka, Gabriel Jesus, Gabriel Martinelli
