Newcastle United are in red-hot form at the moment after they picked up their sixth win in a row in all competitions on Saturday by beating Tottenham Hotspur 2-1 in the Premier League away from home.
The Magpies came from behind to seal all three points, with Anthony Gordon and Alexander Isak scoring in the first half.
Danny Murphy was extremely impressed by Joelinton’s performance and hailed the Brazilian on BBC Match of the Day as “unbelievable”.
While watching a clip on the show, Murphy pointed out that Joelinton’s constant energy throughout the game made a huge difference
Joelinton, 28, was also involved in the opening goal for the Magpies, where the ball touched his arm, but VAR didn’t consider it as an intentional handball.
“Great little pass from Bruno, as you can see, just on the edge of the box, there is Joelinton,” said Murphy.
“His energy to continue to go up and down the pitch is unbelievable”.
Newcastle United midfield trio praised once again
Newcastle are playing with supreme confidence at the moment and they have jumped to fifth in the league table.
Alan Shearer touched on Newcastle’s midfield tactical set-up during their 4-0 win against Ipswich Town, and Murphy was absolutely brilliant with his analysis again.
The Newcastle midfielders not only cover a lot of distance but also press hard to maintain a solid structure.
Sandro Tonali sits deep in a number six role, while Bruno Guimaraes and Joelinton are given more freedom to express themselves.
In one instance in the second half, Tonali took the ball as far as to the box, and Gordon should have done better with his finishing from close range
Joelinton, however, was very sloppy against Spurs, especially in the second half. However, the energy and determination were there among all three to win back possession quickly and make the right passes with the ball.
Newcastle will play Arsenal in the Carabao CCup semi-final in midweek, and Eddie Howe will be hoping for another strong performance from his midfielders
