Callum Hudson-Odoi then teed up Chris Wood before half-time and he bagged his 13th goal of the 2024/25 campaign.

Taiwo Awoniyi put the seal on the victory with his first of the season and it proved a solid night’s work for Forest once again.

It wouldn’t be a proper Premier League campaign without some sort of VAR verdict going against Forest.

Last night with the score at 1-0 an Ola Aina cross was seemingly handled in the box by Rayan Ait-Nouri but the VAR didn’t deem it necessary to recommend an on-field review to Peter Bankes.

Jeff Stelling was incensed by the call and he posted on X: “One of the worst decisions I’ve seen all season!!”

Ultimately, it didn’t cost Forest on this occasion but it looked like a clear and obvious error and at the very least it felt as though the referee would be sent to the screen.

Handball law needs rectifying for the sake of world football

This decision was a joke and frankly, the handball law has become unsustainable.

Although the decision last night wasn’t the worst that Forest have ever been on the wrong end of, to say that Ait-Nouri has his arm in a natural position is just wrong.

The Premier League released a statement after the game to suggest that his arm was in a natural position.

However, replays clearly show that the ball strikes Ait-Nouri as he tries to move his arm into a natural position and get his arm out of the way.

In real-time it looked like a clear penalty and you can bet that had this been one of the league’s traditional big six it would have had a much longer look.

Thankfully, it didn’t cost Forest on this occasion but for the good of the game this is one that the powers that be simply have to look at.
