Nottingham Forest want to repeat 2024 deal to sign gem who plays in same position as Neco Williams
The January transfer window is now in full swing and Nottingham Forest will be trying their best to get some new bodies through the door.
It will very much be a case of quality over quantity again with the club’s recruitment proving very fruitful during the summer transfer window.
Forest added 11 new players in the summer with two of them – David Carmo and Marko Stamenic – joining Olympiacos on loan for the 2024/25 campaign.
The Reds are third in the Premier League table following a run of six straight wins culminating in a 3-0 win over Wolves on Monday night at Molineux.
Morgan Gibbs-White celebrated wildly after opening the scoring, whilst Chris Wood and Taiwo Awoniyi also etched their names onto the score sheet.
Forest have already been linked with Igor Jesus this month but it appears that it’s not just the attack that the club are working to strengthen this month.
Nottingham Forest want Taylan Bulut
Forest wanting a German right-back still in his teens sounds familiar with the Reds signing Eric da Silva Moreira during the summer transfer window.
He’s made a couple of appearances for the club, with Nuno Espirito Santo raving about Moreira following his debut in the Carabao Cup against Newcastle.
Now, Forest would like to bring Schalke defender Bulut to the club, according to Bild, with the 18-year-old also capable of playing as a centre-back.
Bulut came through the ranks with Leverkusen but was released as a 14-year-old, with Schalke subsequently offering him a lifeline.
Bulut has made the step up to regular first-team action during the current campaign, making 14 appearances and scoring a single goal for the senior ranks.
The teenager is set to be offered a new contract with Schalke worth roughly £400,000-a-year but Forest and Bournemouth are both eyeing moves for the defender.
Bulut could be star of the future at Forest
It’s positive that Forest aren’t neglecting plans for the future even though the temptation must be there to splash the clash on stellar recruits to enhance the chances of a Champions League place.
The Reds signed Moreira in the summer with one eye on the future and perhaps given the Bulut interest, this is another market that the Reds are keen to tap into.
The versatile defender largely operates at right-back but he has showcased in the past the ability to perform as a central defender if needed to.
With Neco Williams, Ola Aina – and even Moreira – in the Forest ranks, it’s highly unlikely Forest would sign Bulut for the here and now.
However, he’d get ample opportunities to play for the B-Team in the short-term and much like Moreira, a positive pre-season could see him earn a Forest chance next season.
