Newcastle United striker Alexander Isak has a host of clubs asking for his signature.

The Swede has been a standout player for Eddie Howe this season – without his goals, Newcastle United could be much further down the Premier League table.

Alexander Isak has scored 19 goals in all competitions this season, including 17 in the league – the fourth-highest this campaign. Newcastle are now keen to keep Isak at the club long-term with sporting director Paul Mitchell tasked with getting him to sign a new deal.

The 25-year-old’s existing deal still has over three years left on it but with clubs in England and Spain eyeing a summer move it is better to tie him down with a new deal to deter any interest.

Isak wants Champions League football. The chances of Howe guiding his side to the top four were damaged when Newcastle lost to Manchester City on Saturday. The Magpies sit seventh in the table and are teetering on the edge of failing to qualify for Europe.

With new contract talks on the horizon, a new report in Spain has claimed how much it will cost to sign Isak as his ambitions are revealed.

Throughout the January transfer window, Newcastle remained adamant that Isak would not be leaving the club unless a gargantuan fee offer was made. Reports in the window claimed that Newcastle wanted £150m for Isak, a fee that would obliterate the existing British transfer record.

Arsenal remain interested in Isak, but according to Sport, it could cost the Gunners less than £100m to sign the Magpies star man in the summer.

The report claims that Newcastle will consider offers of over £83.3m for Isak, a shocking amount considering how much he has been touted to cost in recent weeks. TalkSPORT presenter Simon Jordan said Isak would cost “north of £100m” given his quality and due to how much the likes of Declan Rice have been sold for in the past.

Sport’s report also states that Isak has “ambitions to make a step up” as clubs continue to circle around like sharks.

Isak has been a thorn in the side of many clubs this season, including Arsenal. During the second leg of the Carabao Cup semi-final against Arsenal, Alan Shearer wound-up Ian Wright because of how much Isak was bullying defenders Gabriel and William Saliba.

The run-in to the end of the season looks increasingly important for Newcastle as it could determine the futures of several players including Isak.

The likes of Bruno Guimaraes and winger Anthony Gordon are players who crave Champions League football every year – they are good enough to earn moves to clubs where they can do exactly that

With Howe and Mitchell keen to give Isak a new deal, reports have revealed what it will take to get him to sign.

As well as Champions League football, Isak wants a big pay rise which would see him become Newcastle’s highest earner. The title is currently held by Guimaraes who earns £160,000-a-week.

In a shock revalation, Isak’s agents want Newcastle to add a release clause in his new deal to give the Swede the option of a move elsewhere in the future. It is unknown how much the clause would be, but it could be well over £100m given how much he is valued by the club.
