Humphrey Ker shares his favourite ever Paul Mullin moment at Wrexham, ‘I don’t think will ever be replicated…’

Humphrey Ker has been speaking about the man, the myth, the Wrexham legend that is Paul Mullin, who’s recently sealed his temporary exit from the club.

Wrexham have said goodbye, for now, to Paul Mullin, who’s joined Wigan Athletic on loan for the upcoming 2025/26 season.

Phil Parkinson lost faith in the 30-year-old who barely featured in the second half of last season. In the end, a temporary move away from the Racecourse seems like it could work out positively for all involved.

Wigan boss Ryan Lowe has spoken positively about Mullin since his arrival at the club. It’s a league that Mullin is yet to prove himself in, but one that he should be able to, given time and given his track record in the National League and League Two.

Meanwhile, Wrexham have signed Ryan Hardie to replace the outgoing Mullin. The striker joins from Plymouth Argyle and adds a definite set of proven Championship boost to the Dragons’ frontline for next season.

Speaking on talkSPORT, Humphrey Ker spoke fondly of Mullin, as so many have since he left the club for Wigan. Ryan Reynolds gave his verdict on Mullin at Wrexham, along with Rob McElhenney and a number of the players, as well as Parkinson.

Wrexham community director Ker shared how Mullin has given ‘some of the greatest moments’, naming his goals in the 3-1 win over Boreham Wood in 2023, that sent Wrexham into the Football League, as one of his best memories.

“Paul has given me some of the greatest moments of my life, I mean truly,” Ker said. “His goals against Boreham Wood in our first promotion season. Both of those are moments that I don’t think will ever be replicated for me, because that pressure of getting out of the National League was so, so significant.”

No doubt, Mullin is someone who’s given Ker, everyone at the club and all the fans so much to cheer about over the last few years, and those goals against Boreham Wood in particular will go down as some of the best memories of fans.

Now though, it’s time to re-focus. Mullin’s first game for Wigan Athletic could be against Northampton Town in League One on August 2nd. Meanwhile back at the Racecourse, Wrexham play Southampton in their opening game of the 2025/26 season.

It might be as hard as it gets for Parkinson and his players next season. The Saints have just appointed a young and exciting coach in Will Still and look set to do some big-money business in the transfer market.
