“An absolute joke of a signing” – Claim made as Birmingham City close in on “ridiculous” transfer

Birmingham City are closing in on the signing of Werder Bremen talisman Marvin Ducksch, we at Football League World understand.

The Blues are enjoying a very impressive summer of recruitment so far, with no less than nine new arrivals already secured at St Andrew’s.

The additions of Kyogo Furuhashi, Demarai Gray and Tommy Doyle, respectively, highlight the incredible ambition they have to make it to back-to-back promotions next season, after Chris Davies’ side took League One by storm last term.

And with another addition now potentially on the cards, Football League World has exclusively been informed that the club are closing in on the signing of 31-year-old Ducksch, who has been linked with a move to the club this week.

The experienced German striker is wanted to spearhead the club’s Championship push next season, and negotiations are now well down the line with the green-whites.

Speaking to Football League World, Birmingham Fan Pundit Jason believes that the signing of Ducksch is a huge statement outlining just what the Blues’ ambitions are.

“An absolute joke” – German forward would be a huge Blues statement

“You look at his track record, and he just looks like someone who scores goals, especially in the Bundesliga, a very good league,” said Jason when asked just how ridiculous a signing Ducksch would be for a newly promoted Championship side.

“As I have said before, all Blues fans need to trust this board and what they are doing,” he added, before addressing the departure of Alfie May. “As much as I love Alfie May, in the nicest way possible, he is probably not good enough to be at the top end of the Championship.”

“Instead, bringing in a proven Bundesliga goalscorer is an absolute joke.”

“Even at his age, I don’t think it matters, and it shows what the club and owners are about. It’s scary having Jay Stansfield, Kyogo, and now, to top it off, Ducksch.”

Concluding, Jason emphasised: “It’s an absolute joke of a signing. I cannot wait.”

Marvin Ducksch almost guarantees goals for Birmingham

Since moving to the Weserstadion in 2021, Ducksch has gone on to become one of Werder’s most important players.

He has scored 34 goals and weighed in with 25 assists during the past three seasons in the Bundesliga, helping to reestablish one of Germany’s biggest names in the top flight following a mini-blip in the 2. Bundesliga.

Even at 31, a signing of his calibre would not just be a statement for Birmingham, it would almost guarantee goals.

With fantastic options up top already in place, Ducksch brings fantastic experience alongside a proven goalscoring record. The 31-year-old also brings sublime ability from set pieces.

With the Blues already showing heaps of ambition, it looks like the club are not quite done yet, with a statement signing of Ducksch potentially joining up with compatriot Phil Neumann, who arrived from Hannover, not too far from the city-state that is Bremen.
