Sheffield Wednesday have seen the youngster rise up into their first-team so far this season and he has caught the eye.
Sheffield Wednesday boss Henrik Pedersen says Sean Fusire deserves ‘respect’ for the way he has adapted to a wing-back role.

Fusire, 20, managed to get on the scoresheet against the U’s but the Owls weren’t able to find an equaliser in the end at Hillsborough and slumped to another loss. He has made 13 appearances in all competitions so far this season, 10 of which have come in the league.
Pedersen has delivered his verdict on the youngster, as per a report by The Star: “Sean had played in the No.6 position more or less all the time, but I think the right wing-back position is a much better position for him. Defensively and offensively, it is a little bit easier for him to see the picture, to see the tactical pictures. On the ball, it is a little bit easier for him not to have players 360 degrees around him.
“To have an open body position to look forward, it is a little bit easier when he doesn’t have to jump too much between more players as a wing-back or winger.”
He added: “I think this position fits him really well, and I have big respect for him for how he came in during the Charlton game and how he played against Middlesbrough. Against Middlesbrough, he was really, really tired after 70 minutes. Today he also played a good game, so I am really pleased for this.”
Sheffield Wednesday latest regarding Sean Fusire
Sheffield Wednesday haven’t had a choice but to play prospects like Fusire in this campaign. He will be benefitting greatly from the game time he is getting with SWFC at the moment.
The Sheffield-born man has been on the books of the Owls for his whole career to date. He has risen up through their academy and was a regular at various different youth levels.
He penned his first professional deal back in December 2022 and has since signed an extension to that until 2027. The Zimbabwe international, who has two caps to his name, made his debut in February 2023 in an FA Cup replay against Fleetwood Town.
Fusire was given the green light to spend some time away on loan at Carlisle United earlier this year. He was allowed to link up with the Cumbrians to get some experience and made 14 outings as they slipped out of League Two into the National League.
What now for Sheffield Wednesday?
Sheffield Wednesday are in the drop zone along with Sheffield United and Norwich City. SWFC were placed in administration last week and now have -6 points on the board.
The Owls’ squad is threadbare and they are struggling to deal with the workload of fixtures. They are crying out for new owners and some signings.
Pedersen’s side have won only one league match so far this term. They are back in action this weekend against West Brom away as they look to bounce back from their defeat to Oxford United.
Their supporters returned in their numbers to cheer them on against the U’s after their recent boycotts in protest against Dejphon Chansiri’s ownership. Administration is a step closer to finding new owners and that would be a massive boost to everyone concerned when it does eventually happen.
