Ipswich Town defender Harry Clarke is still sidelined with an injury, and with his contract expiring in the summer, decisions must be made about his future.
Ipswich Town have not had the start they would have wanted in their first season back in the Championship. The Tractor Boys were relegated last term from the Premier League and are expected to be one of the three teams to be promoted this campaign.
Kieran McKenna’s side sit 12th in the table and bounced back from two consecutive defeats last weekend. A late goal from Jack Clarke secured three points at Portman Road after losses to Middlesbrough and Charlton Athletic.
Harry Clarke is still at Portman Road, having joined Ipswich Town in January 2023. The 24-year-old has won two promotions under McKenna and has played a crucial role in their recent success.
The right-back’s contract expires at the end of the season, and although ITFC have an option to extend it by a year, Clarke should still consider his options and potentially a move away.

Clarke has been unlucky with injuries this year and hasn’t featured in a senior game since April. The full-back spent the second half of last season on loan at Sheffield United after struggling in the Premier League.
Ipswich Town signed two new right-backs this summer, with Darnell Furlong and Ashley Young joining the club. Once Clarke returns to fitness, getting a place in the starting XI won’t be easy, especially with Ben Johnson also preferred ahead of him.
The 24-year-old can’t afford to spend time on the bench at this stage of his career, and if playing time is hard to come by for the former Stoke City loanee, a move to a different club might be his best option.
Clarke can resurrect his Ipswich Town career
Ipswich Town are suffering a real hangover from last season’s relegation. The Tractor Boys had dominating seasons in the third and second tier before their time in the top flight, but are facing difficulties this term. Clarke could help them get out of their rut.
McKenna should turn to the 24-year-old once he returns from injury to revive ITFC and help push them up the table. Clarke made 35 appearances during their promotion-winning campaign in 2024.
His time away from Portman Road would have hurt the full-back and he will be determined to have the same kind of impact he had before. With plenty of games left of the season, the Englishman could still have plenty to offer under McKenna.
