INTER MILAN NOW WANT TO SIGN £20M ARSENAL DEFENDER

Arsenal defender Takehiro Tomiyasu is on the radar of Inter Milan, according to a report.

La Gazzetta dello Sport has reported that Inter Milan are interested in signing Takehiro Tomiyasu from Arsenal in the summer transfer window.

Inter, who reached the final of the UEFA Champions League last season, want to sign Tomiyasu on a loan deal.

Arsenal would only sanction a permanent exit for the 24-year-old Japan international defender, who cost the Gunners £19.8 million in transfer fees when they signed him from Bologna in the summer of 2021 (Sky Sports).

Arsenal should not let Takehiro Tomiyasu leave for Inter Milan

In our opinion, Arsenal should not offload Takehiro Tomiyasu in the summer transfer window.

We believe that the Gunners should not sell Tomiyasu even if Inter Milan make an offer.

Tomiyasu is a very versatile defender who can operate as a right-back, centre-back or left-back.

Yes, Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta now has options at right-back and at centre-back, but let us not forget that the Gunners will play in the UEFA Champions League this season.

Arsenal do need a big squad if they are to be successful in the Premier League and in the UEFA Champions League this campaign.

There are also FA Cup and EFL Cup ties.

Tomiyasu had injury problems last season.

Arteta also played Ben White at right-back despite the former Leeds United loanee being a centre-back by trade.

Arsenal have signed Jurrien Timber this summer.

Timber can operate as a right-back or as a centre-back.

Kieran Tierney and Oleksandr Zinchenko are the two left-back options for Arsenal.

Tomiyasu clearly faces a fight to play week in and week out for Arsenal.

However, the Japan international should have confidence in himself and should back himself to get into the team.

Tomiyasu has made 42 appearances in the Premier League so far in his career.

The 24-year-old has given two assists and kept eight clean sheets in those games.
