QPR boss Julien Stephan says that Ipswich Town’s early second half goal was the key in their 4-1 win at Loftus Road.
The hosts went in level at the break, after Rumarn Burrell notched their equaliser following an early header by George Hirst.
But Marcelino Nunez scored a cracking free-kick just two minutes after the restart, with Stephan saying that was a bitter blow to take.
“The reaction in the first half was very good,” Stephan told the club website.
“Their goal at the start of the second half mentally was tough, my feeling is that after that we tried to react but the third came too quickly and the fourth killed us.
“The last 20, 25 minutes were very difficult for us.”
Assessing the game as a whole, Stephan said “In my analysis, the first 60 minutes, it was not too bad.
“We tried to do some things, especially in the first half and my feeling was OK at half-time.
“In the end, we are disappointed but we need now to stay united, it is important to keep our focus on the next game on Wednesday because it will come very quickly against another good team in Southampton.
“That is an opportunity for us to do a better game and deal with some details that made the difference today.
“This is a difficult moment but we will learn a lot from this about the players, about the team, about their ability to react and how mentally we will be able to react collectively. This is very important.”
