28-year-old Arsenal player has just agreed personal terms with another club

Arsenal winger Nicolas Pepe has reportedly agreed personal terms with Turkish giants Besiktas. 

The Ivorian was the Gunners’ record signing until they smashed it to sign Declan Rice last month. He’s the second most expensive purchase in the club’s history, and it has to be said that he’s up there with the biggest disappointments as well.

Now, finally, it looks like Arsenal are set to get rid of Pepe. Fanatik share the latest on Besiktas’ interest.

Arsenal have wanted to move Nicolas Pepe on for over a year now.

The Ivorian is a good player and has the ability to win games on his own on his day, but consistency has been his biggest issue since he joined the Gunners. 

Pepe spent last season out on loan at Nice and he didn’t have the greatest of campaigns there either. 

Arsenal seem to have made it clear that he has no future at the club, which is why he hasn’t even returned to London Colney to take part in training.

Pepe has been busy finding a new club and it looks like he has done it. The report claims the 28-year-old and Besiktas have agreed a deal that would see the winger earn £2.15 million a year. 

That’s considerably less than what he’s pocketing at Arsenal, but he’ll have to do with that at this point in his career.

It is still unclear how Arsenal will get rid of Pepe.

Besiktas are certainly hoping to sign him on a free transfer, but the Gunners, who spent a then-club-record fee to sign him, are keen to make some money.

That, as things stand, seems very unlikely. Perhaps, Arsenal will wait until the final days of the window to see if they can get a fee for the Ivorian.

If they can’t, they’ll probably end up tearing up his contract and letting him leave for free – just like they did with Mesut Ozil, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and others.
