Arsenal midfielder must make the starting line-up against Manchester United after his stellar cameo in the 2-2 Premier League draw versus Fulham.

The Portuguese had a difficult debut season with the Gunners last term. He played just 500 minutes in the Premier League, registering one goal and two assists.

Vieira did not feature in the opening two games of the new season, but he showed his class against Cottagers with a superb cameo off the bench.

The 23-year-old replaced Kai Havertz before the hour mark, and he made an instant impression with his work rate and eagerness to get onto the ball.

Vieira eventually made a contribution by winning the penalty which Bukayo Saka scored before delivering a superb cross for Eddie Nketiah’s goal minutes later.

Fulham scored a late equaliser with 10 men, but Vieira almost won the game for Arsenal in the final seconds. He was denied a goal by a fingertip save by Bernd

Aside from his goal involvements, the Porto graduate completed 100 per cent of his passes while winning two duels and one take-on. He also made one clearance.

In our opinion, the Portuguese must start against United. Kai Havertz could be the candidate to make way, having yet to find his confidence in front of goal.

The German has made some clever runs into the box, but has failed to find the target. He has also been slow with his decision-making in the three matches.

Vieira has definitely improved right from pre-season, and deserves to get the nod over Havertz when the Gunners entertain United in less than eight days’ time.
