‘HE DOESN’T GET ENOUGH CREDIT’: TOTTENHAM COACH HAILS ‘TOP, TOP PLAYER’ AT ARSENAL

Jermain Defoe says Eddie Nketiah is a ‘top, top player’ for Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal.

The Tottenham academy coach, who returned to the club in 2022 after retiring, thinks that the Arsenal striker ‘doesn’t get enough credit’, as he told Premier League Productions (26/08/23 at 5:15 pm).

Eddie Nketiah came off the bench on Saturday to help Arsenal record a 2-2 draw against Fulham, his goal was supposed to be the winner, only for the away side to equalise late on.

But, for the player himself, the 24-year-old netted his second Premier League goal of the new season, with Gabriel Jesus returning to the bench from injury.

There are many questioning Nketiah and whether he has enough goals in his locker to fire his team to the Premier League title.

But, for Defoe, who scored 163 Premier League goals during his career, he likes what he sees from Nketiah and how he is hoping the Hale-End star now gets a ‘run of games’.

“That’s what you got to do (come off the bench and score),” said Defoe. “It was actually a really good finish.

“For me, he is a top, top player. He doesn’t get enough credit, to be honest. I think, if he gets a run of games, then he will definitely score goals.”

Will Nketiah start against Manchester United?

This was a big game for Arsenal and Nketiah last season because the player in question scored a late winner for his side.

At the time, it was a huge goal for the Englishman and for the team in the Premier League title race.

Well, Manchester United visit the Emirates again this following Sunday, in what is expected to be a heavyweight Premier League clash because both teams have made a mixed start to the 2023/24 campaign.
