Derby County and Stockport County Interested in Cheltenham Town Full-Back Arkell Jude-Boyd Amid Summer Transfer Speculation
Derby County and Stockport County are reportedly among a growing number of EFL clubs showing strong interest in Cheltenham Town’s highly rated full-back Arkell Jude-Boyd ahead of the summer transfer window.
The 22-year-old defender made the switch to Cheltenham last summer from Championship side Queens Park Rangers, following an impressive loan spell at Torquay United during the 2023/24 season. At Torquay, Jude-Boyd gained valuable experience in the National League South, which helped him transition smoothly into life in the English Football League.
Since arriving at the Robins, Jude-Boyd has quickly established himself as a key player. During his debut EFL season, he not only demonstrated defensive reliability but also made significant contributions going forward. He found the net three times and laid on three assists for his teammates, highlighting his capability as a modern, attacking full-back. His consistent performances have not gone unnoticed, with clubs higher up the football pyramid now closely monitoring his development.
Cheltenham Town turned down a formal bid from League One side Peterborough United during the January transfer window, a clear indication of how highly they value Jude-Boyd. With only one year remaining on his current contract at the EV Charger Points Stadium, the Robins may face a dilemma this summer, as more offers are anticipated from interested suitors.
Adding to his appeal, Jude-Boyd is also an international for St Lucia, further enhancing his profile and experience at a young age. His international exposure could prove attractive to clubs looking to add versatility and pedigree to their squads ahead of the new campaign.
Cheltenham’s transfer dealings aren’t limited to Jude-Boyd. The club has also rejected a bid for promising winger Ethon Archer, a former Torquay United player. Meanwhile, another talent drawing attention is left-footed winger Jordan Thomas. The dynamic wide man, who joined Cheltenham from Bath City in January 2024 for a modest £5,000 fee, has a reported £250,000 release clause in his contract.
