The winger joins from Korean first division side Jeonbuk Hyundai Motors, who did a league and cup double in the 2025 season, and is the U’s fifth addition of the January transfer window.
Drawing interest from West Bromwich Albion and Belgian club Genk, the signing of Jeon is seen as an impressive and exciting pick up for Oxford, with fans eager to see what he can bring as the Yellows look to escape relegation in the second half of the campaign.
Hailing from the other side of the world, it is fair to say not much is known about the forward, so what exactly can Jeon bring to this Oxford United team?
A direct and positive wide man, Jeon was a standout performer in the K League 1 the season just gone.
Averaging a goal every 170 minutes, the 26-year-old bagged 16 goals and three assists for Jeonbuck as they stormed to domestic success last year.
Jeon showed himself to possess terrific movement and a composed eye for goal when analysing the new Yellow’s acquisition.
With 11 goals scored on his right foot, the forward possesses a range of types of finish.
Here, Jeon bears down on goal with the retreating opposition in pursuit.
A similar chance comes to mind from the U’s draw with QPR on Tuesday, when Myles Peart-Harris was played into a similar position on the left-hand side.

Peart-Harris hesitated before shooting, missing the prime chance to shoot, something that you would hope a more confident Peart-Harris would bury.
Jeon has shown here that he has the self-confidence to pull off an audacious finish like the above.

The winger also has the movement off the ball to prove a threat.

This allows to him to move round the back of the defender, timing his run well to remain onside…
..before poking the ball past the goalkeeper from close range.
Of course, with any player’s highlights they can often look like the second coming of Lionel Messi.

Jeon does enjoy running at defenders and can shimmy past men on the ball, and is also capable of putting a pinpoint cross in or slotting through a tidy ball in behind.
With two headed goals, he is not bad in the air either.

However, there are areas to improve. The attacker missed eight big chances for Jeonbuck last season; he will need to be burying these more often if he is to help secure Oxford’s survival.
And, of course, until we see him in action, question marks will remain on how well Jeon can translate his Korean league form into the Championship
Nevertheless, that mystery and impressive showreel make him one of the most anticipated new signings in quite a while in OX4.
