Matt Bloomfield has assessed Oxford United’s January additions so far and hinted at possible further business ahead of a Championship clash with Leicester City.
The U’s have seen five new faces enter the doors at the Kassam, with Jamie McDonnell the latest to make his debut on Tuesday night against QPR.
Myles Peart-Harris has started the previous two fixtures after coming in surprisingly early against MK Dons on the same day he signed, whilst fellow addition from Brentford Yunus Konak featured in the first half against Bristol City last weekend.
“I think Myles Peart-Harris has been absolutely fantastic,” proclaimed Bloomfield.
“I think he’s going to be a very good player. I really like him as a boy.
“Obviously, he was signed before my time but he was one that I knew about coming into the building. I think he’s great.
“Jamie McDonnell came on on Tuesday evening and I thought he did great for the time he was on the pitch.
“I think he’s a fantastic investment for the football club. He’s going to be very good for us for a number of years, I’m dead certain about that.
“We’re pleased with the business we’ve done and hopefully before the end of the window there might be one or two more.

“I think the squad is probably bigger than what we want coming out of the end of the window and we don’t want unhappy players. If players believe that they can play more elsewhere then those will be conversations that I’m willing to have.
“You want to get that balance right of competition for places, but not too many because we don’t want unhappy people around.
“There’s been interest in some of the lads.

“There’ll be interest in players you don’t want to lose and there’ll be interest in players that you’d be willing to have conversations about.
“Those conversations will remain private, behind the scenes and we’ll do what’s best for Oxford United, but we also have to take into account what’s best for the individual as well.”
The Yellows travel to face Leicester on Saturday whom they drew with 2-2 earlier in the season.
The Foxes currently sit 14th in the Championship, with Oxford set to take their largest away following of the season so far to the King Power Stadium.
“It’s an amazing following from our supporters and we have to go and put a show on for them, go and put a performance in that they’re proud of,” Bloomfield said.
“We have to approach the game in the manner that we believe can get us a result and we’ll be doing that.”
