Leandro Trossard has discussed his game time at Arsenal.
Leandro Trossard is currently away from Arsenal, representing Belgium on international duty.
Trossard will expect to rack up plenty of minutes for his country in the coming days, as Belgium are set to take on Azerbaijan and Estonia in European Championship qualification matches.
The 28-year-old will likely be named in the starting XI by Belgium manager Domenico Tedesco for at least one, if not both, of the upcoming fixtures.
However, Trossard has only started one game for Arsenal so far this season, when he was tasked with leading the line against Fulham. On that occasion, he was substituted off at half-time by Mikel Arteta, following a difficult opening 45 minutes at the Emirates Stadium.
All in all, opportunities have been difficult to come by for Trossard at Arsenal in the early stages of the new campaign. The 26-cap international has managed to rack up just 62 Premier League minutes so far.
Trossard set for big role at Arsenal
Given his impressive form for the Gunners last season after arriving in a £27 million deal from Brighton in January, and the fact that he was one of the club’s stand out performers in pre-season, Trossard might have expected to be afforded more opportunities to shine by this point in the new season.
Despite this, the attacker remains confident that he can still play a big role for Arsenal and get enough game time to keep his international aspirations alive.
Speaking to Belgian outlet HLN, Trossard says, “I am still convinced that I will play enough matches. I will be ready for the European Championship.”
Arsenal will have plenty of matches to play this season, and Arteta will expect his side to compete seriously for every trophy on offer. However, he will also need to regularly rotate his squad and take advantage of the strength in depth at his disposal.
That means that Trossard can expect plenty of chances to shine as the season goes on.
