Paul Heckingbottom’s side have seen their form fall away, having won one of just nine league games. The Lilywhites have lost five of those, including last time out against Alex Neil’s Millwall.

As for Oxford United, they will hope to make it back-to-back Championship wins after defeating West Brom in their last outing. It was a crucial win for the U’s, who went into the game six games without victory.

Here, a handful of our writers make their predictions for the game…
James Ray
“It is disappointing to see how Preston North End’s season has fallen away. There’s no hiding they’re missing Harrison Armstrong after his January recall, but performances have not been good enough on the whole.
“At home to a relegation candidate though, Paul Heckingbottom will be demanding a return to winning ways.
“Oxford United have the wind in their sails though. They got a vital win against West Brom last time out and they will hope that can be a catalyst in their fight against relegation from the Championship.
“The U’s have fought to some good results on the road in recent times too. That might see them snatch a point at PNE, but I wouldn’t be surprised if they go and nick a victory.”
Prediction: Preston North End 0-0 Oxford United
Harry Mail
“Preston North End’s season is starting to peter out and they need to win this one. PNE’s form hasn’t been the best and they will be lacking confidence.
“The Lilywhites are winless in their last four matches. That has seen them slip down to 11th in the table.
“Oxford United are battling away at the moment and should be in good spirits. OUFC saw off West Brom in their last game to boost their survival hopes.
“The U’s remain still have a chance and are fighting for their lives. I fancy them to get a draw at least at Deepdale.”
Prediction: Preston North End 1-1 Oxford United
