Arsenal have been handed an injury boost ahead of their top-of-the-table Premier League clash with Manchester City on Sunday after Thomas Partey was pictured in training.

The Ghana international midfielder has not featured for the team since he was withdrawn against Fulham in August.

Partey sustained a knock in training ahead of the Manchester United game and recently returned to training, joining his teammates on Monday ahead of the Champions League game against RC Lens.

However, he did not make it onto the pitch despite making the matchday squad and is now likely to see action on Sunday.

Arsenal uploaded pictures from their latest training session on their website on Friday, and Partey was seen in high spirits putting on a smile in the second slide.

He was probably not fit enough to feature against the Ligue 1 club and is now likely to be available to start against Man City in a huge boost for manager Mikel Arteta.

The 30-year-old started the season at right-back and Arsenal have had to deploy Ben White in the position since he became unavailable due to injury, while Takehiro Tomiyasu played in the position against Lens.

Man City will be providing Arsenal with stiff competition on Sunday, and having Partey available to start would be a big boost given his physicality, versatility, quality and experience.

Arteta provided a positive update on the former Atletico Madrid star and Bukayo Saka this afternoon, but it remains to be seen what his plans are as he clearly did not want to give anything away as far as his team selection goes.

The Spaniard will be desperate to get the better of his former boss and pick up a win which would see them move to the top of the Premier League table ahead of the international break if Tottenham Hotspur drop points against Luton Town.
