Liverpool’s Trent Alexander-Arnold touts Thierry Henry as his ‘favourite Premier League player’

Liverpool right-back Trent Alexander-Arnold has named Arsenal great Thierry Henry as his favorite Premier League player of all time.

Alexander-Arnold revealed he idolized the French striker while answering various questions in a video for the Premier League YouTube channel.

When asked which player he would want to feature alongside from any era, the Liverpool vice-captain instantly selected Henry.

The choice may surprise some Liverpool fans given Trent Alexander-Arnold has been a longtime Reds player having come up from their academy.

But he couldn’t look past Henry, who terrorized Premier League defences in his prime at Arsenal.

After joining the Gunners from Juventus in 1999, Henry went on to score 228 goals in 377 appearances for the north London club. His blistering pace and lethal finishing saw him clinch two Premier League titles and two FA Cups among other honours at Highbury.

Thierry Henry is a legend for the Gunners

Henry secured the Golden Boot four times and was named Footballer of the Year twice during eight spectacular seasons with Arsenal.

That sustained brilliance in England left Alexander-Arnold enamoured with the French striker’s mesmerizing abilities. For the Liverpool star, Henry set the benchmark for Premier League forwards during the 2000s with his phenomenal goalscoring exploits.

Alexander-Arnold has developed into one of Europe’s assist kings from right-back for Liverpool, having provided 73 assists in 280 matches for the Reds.

But he would relish combining with Henry, whose movement and finishing could take full advantage of the full-back’s crossing and vision.

Even Liverpool fans would find it hard to begrudge Alexander-Arnold for picking one of Arsenal’s all-time greats as his Premier League idol.

At his peak, few could argue Henry wasn’t the most devastating attacker the English top-flight has ever seen.
