ARTETA NOW TEMPTED TO SPEND ARSENAL CASH ON ‘TERRIFIC’ PLAYER

Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta would prefer to sign Wolverhampton Wanderers winger Pedro Neto over Brentford striker Ivan Toney.

Arsenal may be limited to just one big signing in January as Mikel Arteta attempts to win the Premier League title this season.

That is according to a report from Football Transfers, who claim that Arsenal are now ramping up their interest in signing Pedro Neto.

The Gunners went into the international break off the back of a crucial 1-0 victory over title rivals Manchester City.

Arteta will be hoping to kick on when Premier League action returns, but he may already have one eye on the January transfer window.

Mikel Arteta wants Pedro Neto at Arsenal

Football Transfers now claim that Arteta has been told that there is a limited budget for January, and that he may only be able to make one marquee addition.

Some players could leave to bolster the budget but Arteta may now be forced to pick between Pedro Neto and Ivan Toney.

Arsenal are interested in both players but, if it came down to one or the other, Arteta would allegedly prefer to sign Neto.

The idea is that the Portuguese ace can help ease the burden on Bukayo Saka down Arsenal’s right flank.

It has become clear that Saka is simply playing too many games at the moment and his recent injury concerns may have helped Arteta realise that another top winger is needed.

Neto can play on either flank and that versatility may well leave Arteta to pick him over Toney as Arsenal’s top January target.

Would Wolves really sell Neto in January?

Neto has been sensational this season, already bagging one goal and five assists in the early weeks of the Premier League season.

The 23-year-old appears to be on his way back to his best after a couple of years being dogged by injuries.

Neto has been so dangerous this season and pundit Leon Osman has hailed him as ‘terrific’ having caused no end of problems for defenders.

Arsenal would no doubt love to add Neto but convincing Wolves to sell in the middle of the season sounds like a tough ask.

Wolves will certainly need Neto in order to absolutely guarantee their Premier League status and even if Arsenal throw money at them in January, there is no guarantee that a deal will be done.
