Declan Rice has three-word message for 22-year-old Arsenal player after what happened against Chelsea

Amid all of the praise he’s been receiving himself, Declan Rice has now been delighted to see Bukayo Saka get his first taste of being Arsenal captain.

Saka wore the Arsenal armband towards the end of the draw against Chelsea on Saturday.

And Saka then took to Instagram in the following days to celebrate the experience.

The England international posted a photo wearing the armband with the caption: “An honour to wear the armband for the first time. My club!”

Moreover, this obviously went down very well with everyone connected with Arsenal, who will be delighted to see the Hale End graduate reach this point.

And it was Declan Rice who was first to leave his support with the comment: “What a sight.”

Alongside Saka, Rice is already being tipped as future Arsenal captain given his talent and immediate leadership he’s showing at the club.

Rice famously captained his boyhood club West Ham United to a European trophy last season, so he’s clearly not short of experience.

But this moment was all about Bukayo Saka, a 22-year-old that has always played well beyond his years.

Saka and Rice could both be Arsenal captain one day

Of course, amid all of this, it’s important not to forget the current incumbent Martin Odegaard.

Although he’s suffered with some mixed displays of late, the Norwegian has embodied everything good about this new Mikel Arteta era.

And even if it’s exciting to see Saka get his chance as Arsenal captain, Odegaard will rightfully hold the title for years to come.

Arteta has put his trust in Odegaard, and the midfielder recently repaid that faith by signing a new long-term contract.

Harping back to Hale End graduates, Arsenal fans will soon hope to see the best of Emile Smith Rowe once again after an exciting cameo against Chelsea.

The midfielder is perhaps now the most underrated player at the club, given how his quality has been forgotten.

And Smith Rowe may now be earmarked for a start in Seville on Tuesday.
