‘Just being honest’… Pundit says he’s never seen 24-year-old have a good game for Arsenal

Arsenal beat Sevilla 2-0 on Wednesday evening, but, as ever, the discussion after the game circled back around to Kai Havertz.

The German was, yet again, unable to make an impact against the Spanish outfit for the Gunners, and speaking on TalkSPORT (9/11/23 6:42AM), Adrian Clarke has now weighed in on the great Havertz debate.

Clarke says he’s yet to see Havertz produce a performance that has positively impacted a game fro Arsenal, claiming that while he hasn’t been terrible, he’s yet to realy make any sort of impact for his new club.

Havertz yet to have a truly good game

Clarke spoke about the 24-year-old.

“No one knows, I can’t place him in Arsenal’s strongest XI yet because he hasn’t produced a performance that has really, really impacted the game positively and that’s just being honest,” Clarke said.

“I don’t think he’s been bad, but he hasn’t bossed a game, he hasn’t produced any moments really of unbelievable quality and because of that, nobody knows whether he should be a midfielder, whether he should be a striker.

“Last night is a good example, Saka and Martinelli came into it off the back of couple of indifferent games and they were unbelievable.

“They absolutely tormented Sevilla, they ripped them apart, they provided amazing entertainment.

“With Kai, he was there and he knitted things together OK and he didn’t do anything bad, but he didn’t shine and I think that’s what all Arsenal fans are waiting for from Kai Havertz, they’re waiting for that match where he really shines.”

What does he do?

Havertz is yet to have a good game for Arsenal, and, in all honesty, we don’t even know what a good game for Havertz would look like.

He’s not quite a striker, he’s not quite a number 10 and he’s not quite a midfielder, so what should we be looking for here?

His game isn’t defined by goals or assists, he’s not one to break up or dictate play, and he’s not much of a defensive contributor either.

Sadly, Havertz often looks lost on the pitch, and he never looks like providing anything for the Gunners.

Havertz is yet to have a standout game for Arsenal, and the worrying thing is, we can’t see how he ever will.
