Dimitar Berbatov says Arsenal now have a 24-year-old player who plays just like him

Former Tottenham Hotspur striker Dimitar Berbatov has named Arsenal’s Kai Havertz as the Premier League player who resembles his play style.

Speaking to Stadium Astro, Dimitar Berbatov was asked which player in England’s top flight reminds him of himself.

Kai Havertz is beginning to find his feet at Arsenal after a difficult start to life in North London.

The 24-year-old has netted three times in his last five Premier League appearances from midfield.

Indeed, Micah Richards believes Havertz is just beginning to make an impact under Mikel Arteta.

The German star received plenty of criticism earlier in the campaign as he struggled to adapt to a new system following his move from Chelsea.

But off the back of a promising run of form, he’s earned huge praise from former Spurs man Berbatov.

Berbatov says Havertz plays like him

Berbatov, who picked up two league titles during his time at Manchester United, was asked which Premier League player most resembles his style of play.

And the Bulgarian singled out Havertz for praise, admitting he’s a huge fan of the Arsenal star.

“I don’t like comparisons,” he said. “But to answer the question, I need to point out someone and the first name popping into my mind is Kai Havertz.

“Not because I came from Leverkusen and he came from Leverkusen. He has that way of moving around the pitch, not necessarily in a way that he’s in a hurry.

“He’s watching, he’s studying, he’s taking his time. He has a good touch as well. I like him and I wish him all the best at Arsenal.”

Havertz continues to earn plaudits after a decent run of form for Arsenal over the past month. And for Berbatov to compare the Arsenal star to himself is huge praise.

The former Tottenham man was an exceptionally gifted footballer who scoped six major trophies during his time in England.

He was renowned for his brilliant ball control and calmness on the in possession, as well as his goalscoring qualities.

While Havertz has some way to go to replicate what Berbatov achieved in the game, it should only boost his confidence to receive such a comparison.
