“We can”- Wolves Boss Vitor Pereira issues ‘fantastic’ Wolves prediction that will excite the fans about the future
Wolves supporters dream about the good times returning to Molineux as Vitor Pereira continues to do an incredible job.
On Sunday, Wolves 1-0 win over Manchester United saw the Old Gold win five Premier League games in a row for the first time in their history.
It also continued a run of six games unbeaten for Vitor Pereira’s men, who have moved up to 15th in the table and a whopping 17 points above the bottom three.
As such, Pereira has been compared to Nuno Espirito Santo, the most successful manager at Wolves in the modern era and someone who is now achieving unbelievable things at Nottingham Forest.
But while supporters will always look back fondly on the years with Nuno, their current boss is currently crafting his own legacy in Wolverhampton.
Vitor Pereira thinks Wolves can achieve ‘big things’
Jamie Carragher labelled Pereira a ‘top coach’ live on Monday Night Football, with the Portuguese manager proving he can galvanise a dressing room.
The 56-year-old doesn’t just want to settle for surviving relegation, though, and Pereira has already sent a subtle warning to Fosun about his future.
He has ambitions of driving Wolves up the Premier League table, and in an interview with the E&S, he believes the club can achieve ‘big things’ with the supporters coming together.
“This feeling, as a family, we need,” he said. “This is not a big city but we can be big if we are together. We can achieve big things if we are together, if we feel this energy.
“This is the connection. I’ve said it before, football is not only about tactics, it’s about connecting people. If we connect the people around the club and the city, we can achieve fantastic things.”
Fosun determines how far Wolves can go
Unfortunately, Pereira can only take Wolves so far with his current squad, accepting that quality additions will be needed in the transfer window.
With Matheus Cunha set to leave the club and others potentially on their way, investment will be needed in a replacement for Cunha as well as other areas of the side.
Worryingly, Fosun operate with a self-sustaining model, meaning the money earned from player sales is used to sign talent.
Wolves inarguably need to be backed financially by the owners, as only investing a fraction of the capital from departures will leave them in a similar position or cause them to trend in the wrong direction.
The reason Wolves have dropped like a stone down the Premier League table is due to a lack of ambition shown, and if that continues to be the case under Pereira, he will perhaps walk out.
